How do I need to prepare for a HALO treatment?

As with any laser treatment, the most important thing to do to prepare is to avoid direct sun exposure. In some cases, prescription skin lighteners may be recommended by your clinician to prep your skin for 2-8 weeks prior to your treatment.

Before Your Treatment

Before your treatment, we will evaluate your skin to determine if Halo is the best option to meet your needs. If we move forward with treatment, a mild numbing agent will be applied to your skin to help manage any discomfort. The Halo settings will be tuned specifically to your skin type and needs, ensuring a precise treatment that directly addresses your concerns.

During Your Treatment

During your treatment, we will closely monitor your skin to ensure safe and effective treatment. Additionally, the Halo system offers a number of features to keep you comfortable and your results beautiful:

  • An integrated cooling system will keep your skin cool throughout treatment
  • The Halo applicator constantly monitors the temperature of your skin

After Your Treatment

After your treatment, you will need to take special care of your skin. A restorative skin cream will be applied to the treatment areas. Keeping your skin clean is very important for the recovery process. Some swelling and redness after your treatment is normal and will subside on its own. Any warm sensation of the treatment area will go away within a couple of hours. Applying cold compresses can help calm the skin.

The day after your treatment you may begin to notice small dark spots on the treatment areas; this is treated tissue leaving the body and making way for new, healthy skin. The skin will peel during this process (typically lasting 5-7 days) and may feel dry or rough. This is a normal occurrence as the body is ridding itself of damaged skin and regenerating fresh new skin. You may appear as though you are a bit sunburned, but makeup can easily cover any redness (just do not apply any makeup for the first 24 hours.) Avoid strenuous exercise and sweating until after skin has healed (5-7 days). Within a week, the roughened skin will flake lightly, revealing fresh new skin underneath.

There is no downtime necessary after a Halo treatment. You will be ready to return to your daily routine with the proper skin protection. Applying moisturizer and sunscreen is a must for keeping the skin hydrated and protected until you have fully healed.
