SKINPEN OVERVIEW
The SkinPen treatment uses a precise FDA approved medical instrument with fine needles to create tiny micro punctures in the skin. The treatment helps to reduce visible sun damage, wrinkles, acne scarring and pigmentation. It is also referred to as Collagen Channelling or Collagen Induction Therapy. Using no chemicals, SkinPen Skin Needling is highly effective as the underlying action of this treatment is simply stimulating a natural reaction in your skin to produce more of its own collagen, elastin, and skin cells.
A radiant complexion can lighten up a room and highlight your youthful features. Luminous, toned skin is associated with youth, but as we age our complexions begin to dull and the skin’s texture becomes lax. Stress, hormonal changes, smoking, and daily sun exposure all contribute to the aging of our skin. At EOL, we consistently strive to offer breakthrough skin care treatments to our lower mainland clients. That’s why we’re excited about TEOSYAL® Redensity I vitamin micro-injection treatments that hydrate your skin and stimulate collagen production.
WHAT IS SKINPEN NEEDLING?
Essence Of L Medi Spa is proud to introduce one of the industry’s leading medical skin rejuvenation treatments. The SkinPen Needling can help patients who would like to minimize the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles, acne scars, surgical scars, stretch marks, and minimize pore size and skin texture. By using multiple microscopic needles to penetrate the skin, Dermapen creates a controlled wound which stimulates a wound-healing-cascade. In this process, the needles create micro punctures that break up old collagen bundles and trigger a new healing process to smooth the appearance of wrinkles, scars, and stretch marks.
SkinPen uses single-use sterile, disposable needle tips that are adjustable to cater to the small crevices of the face that require different penetration levels of the needles. The motorized handpiece stimulates the collagen process immediately during the treatment and allows for the healing process to continue over the following four weeks. The precision of the SkinPen puts the device in a league of its own not only for patient comfort but also for ease of the treatment, duration of treatment, and recovery time. The smaller areas of the face such as the nose, upper lip, and delicate eye area are easily treated by the SkinPen’s narrower handpiece as opposed to the mechanical hand-held dermal roller.
WHAT DOES THE SKINPEN TREAT?
The ease of using the SkinPen device allows me to quickly and efficiently change the depth settings as well as the speed setting- this enables us to treat more surface areas quicker and all over the body.
- Textural improvements & skin tone
- Melasma & Pigmentation discolourations
- Reduce pore size
- Lip wrinkles
- Increased product penetration
- Superficial facial wrinkles
- Acne/ Trauma scarring
The treatment is generally done on the face, however, the skin needling therapy can be successfully used on any area of the body.
YOUR SKINPEN EXPERIENCE
The theory is actually quite simple- create a small controlled wound and the skin will respond by triggering your body’s own natural collagen production and new skin cells. Depending on the depth we choose during your complimentary consultation, the SkinPen can offer the skin a rejuvenating treatment by increasing product absorption or the more advanced treatments of wrinkles and scars.
HOW LONG UNTIL I CAN SEE RESULTS?
Each patient’s healing time is different and will recover at different speeds, though most start to see results in one to seven days after the first treatment. Immediately after the treatment, patients may notice redness in the treatment area that resembles a minor sunburn and in some cases, there will be pinpoint bleeding depending on the length of the needle penetration. Even a light treatment can enhance the appearance of skin texture and brighten your complexion.
WHAT ABOUT DOWNTIME?
Day 1- There may be some Erythema (red appearance) and that will depend on how aggressive the treatment was performed along with some mild swelling.
Day 2- A red hue or pink tone may be present much like a mild sunburn. Swelling may be a bit more noticeable on the second day.
Day 3- Skin may still have a slight pinkness to it but should return to a normal colour. Swelling subsides, and you will be prescribed post-procedure home care.
